And strengthen Man with his own mind

In the line “And strengthen Man with his own mind” it symbolically speaks about Prometheus helping mortals by stealing fire to help mortals. Prometheus was known for helping mortals. He wanted to protect humans from the rage of the gods. When Lord Byron says strengthen man with his own mind it symbolically means that mortals possess more power than they know. Prometheus wants humans to know that they have power and that he will always be on humanities side. Human minds can be strengthened when they start to believe in the power that is within them. When humans see the strength, they have within they can finally defend themselves against the gods.

And in thy Silence was his Sentence

In the line “And in thy silence was his Sentence” this speaks about the fact that Zeus punishing Titan for stealing fire and giving it to humans. Giving Titan a punishment by the tyrant god Zeus gives Titan the strength to be resilient and ability to become greater than what he has been before. This line symbolizes that you although one might experience torment in their life there is something profound in keeping quiet. Keeping quiet can show them not to be too prideful because it can turn on you. We also learn that following your heart and intuition can land you in the right position. This specific line speaks to fact that it is a sad reality that he had to be chained to a rock. It was a act of kindness for he sacrificed his life for mortals. He tried to spread goodness and wisdom. He learns a very valuable lesson.

Prometheus

The fate thou didst so well forsee,
But would not appease him tell:
,And in thy Silence was his Sentence,
And in his Soul a vain repentance ,
And evil dread so ill dissembled
That in his hand the lightnings trembled.

Thy Godlike crime was to be kind,
To render with thy precepts less
    The sum of human wretchedness,
And strengthen Man with his own mind
But baffled as thou wert from high,
Still in the patient energy
In the endurance, and repulse
    Of thine impenetrable Spirit
Which earth and heaven could not convulse
